lich_su_SPCIt all started the early 90’s when there were only a few Expat Chefs, meeting on a weekly and later monthly basis to exchange information. With the increased availability of imported and better quality of local products and more access to outside information their interest diminished and with it the meetings.

We have tried various times over the years to revive those meetings without success. The two main reasons where:

1.      The expat Chefs showed no interest, some because they wanted to keep all their

secrets others out of plain rivalry.

2.      The local Chefs thought that it is only a meeting for the bosses and did not feel

comfortable attending.

In 2005 we where offered the opportunity to work with the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association (HTA) to organize the Chefs. A steering committee was formed in the and within 3 months with a lot of meetings a charter was prepared. The application for the club was handed in and within 3 weeks we received the approval to set up the club.

From that date on we were allowed to officially announce the “Saigon Professional Chefs’ Club” and to recruit members. We were overwhelmed with the interest and had already 140 members within the first 2 weeks. The official license we received in November of 2005 just in time for the Food & Hotel Vietnam exhibition.

In 2007 the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association upgraded our organisation to a Guild.

The Saigon Professional Chefs Guild is an organization for cooks, chefs and pastry chefs of all levels from apprentice to management. We bring together chefs from form hotels, restaurants, catering organizations, hospitals and culinary schools.

As a professional organization it is our task to promote the professional and social interests of cooks, chefs and pastry chefs.

  • We work for you

As the professional organization for chefs in Vietnam we are working together with specialised, public and private organisations and institutions in the hospitality and catering industry which have the target to lift the status of our profession within the possibilities of the guild.

We want to develop the network within the guild and win new members. The personal contact to cooks and chefs which are not members yet is very important to increase our most valuable capital the professional knowledge and number of professional members.

With a rich event schedule and a good information platform of our own media and social meeting we create resources with so called „Member Values“.

  • Your input

However, to make our events more successful we need the work input from our members. Currently only a handful of dedicated members and are work for the Guild. Except for the full time secretary all members are working gratis in their own free time.

To make our a Guild a success and meet with the members expectations we must have YOUR help. Please contact Mr. Sanh for further information.

  • Our Office your Contact Point

The Saigon Professional Chefs Guild has its office with a full time secretary in the building of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association (HTA) in 4-6 Ho Huan Nghiep, Ben Nghe Ward 1, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

A new office will be setup later in the year at the Saigon Hotel and Tourism School. This synergy gives us big advantages in the engagement for the members and the chefs’ profession in general. We will be able to use the infrastructure of the school such as access to classrooms, kitchen, library and other facilities, making it easier to arrange training sessions.
